Composer Information
Jordan Jinosko
The 2026 CODA JHS All-State String Orchestra will be premiering a commissioned piece by composer Jordan Jinosko. Jordan Jinosko is an award-winning composer whose music, inspired by history, mythology, nature, and personal identity, has been performed at major venues like Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Her work spans both concert and media music, including scores for award-winning films and a Billboard-topping classical album featuring world-renowned orchestras. Jinosko has received numerous honors, including multiple composition competition wins and recognition from organizations like The American Prize and Global Music Awards. A dedicated advocate for LGBTQ+ youth and climate action, she combines artistry with activism, using her music to uplift marginalized voices and highlight urgent environmental issues.
Nubia Jaime-Donjuan (b. 1984)
Nubia Jaime-Donjuan is a Mexican cellist and composer whose music reflects her deep cultural roots, family influences, and strong connection to nature. Beginning cello studies at age six and later training at the University of Sonora with prominent composers including Arturo Márquez, she has developed a compositional voice that blends regional traditions with contemporary expression. Her works have been performed by major ensembles in Mexico and the United States, and she has been featured at international events such as the Midwest Clinic, the Meg Quigley Symposium, and the Music Mexico Symposium. A champion of women in music, she contributes to initiatives like Las Montoneras and the Mexican Repertoire Initiative, and in 2021 became the first woman to win the Arturo Márquez Composition Competition for her piece Maso Yéeme, which blends danzón with Yaqui musical traditions. Jaime-Donjuan currently serves as composer-in-residence for the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble and the Tzintz Philharmonic Orchestra, while continuing her active career as a cellist with Quinteto Pitic and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sonora, where she is co-principal cellist. TheCODA Junior High All-State Concert Orchestra will be performing Jaime-Donjuan’s A Su Merced, Don Jose at Casmec this January under the direction of Daryl Silberman.
