CODA Membership Class Information

Active Membership
Active Membership is open to any music professional (e.g. orchestral, instrumental) teaching in Grades 4-12 public or private schools, community colleges, colleges, and universities in California. Active Members have the right to vote, are eligible to hold office as a Director and/or Officer, and are eligible to participate in CODA programs.

Associate Membership
Associate Membership is open to any persons who are not professionally engaged in the field of music but wish to support CODA’s purpose, programs and activities. Associate Members do not have the right to vote, and are not eligible to hold office as a Director and/or Officer, and are not “members” as defined in Section 5056 of the California Nonprofit Corporation Law. Associate Members are eligible to attend CODA programs and may receive member news, notifications, or publications, if available and applicable.

Retired Membership
Retired Membership is open to any retired music professional (e.g. orchestral, instrumental) who previously taught in Grades 4-12 public or private schools, community colleges, colleges, and universities in California. Retired Members have the right to vote, are eligible to hold office as a Director and/or Officer, and are eligible to participate in CODA programs.

Collegiate Membership
Collegiate Membership shall be open to music students in teacher education programs or related programs (e.g., music performance, music therapy, music composition, musicology, jazz studies, music production, ethnomusicology) at the college or university level who are not employed full time as teachers.  Collegiate Members shall have the same privileges as Active Members except the right to hold elective office.
