President: Matthew Mulvaney, Mira Mesa High SchoolMatthew Mulvaney is currently the Director of Orchestras at Mira Mesa High School in the San Diego Unified School District. Mr. Mulvaney holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and bachelor’s degree from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. As an educator, Mr. Mulvaney remains actively involved in the profession, serving currently in various capacities with the California Orchestra Directors Association (as the All-State Orchestra Coordinator), the National Association for Music Education (as the Western Division Representative on the Council for Orchestral Education), the American String Teachers Association (as Vice President of the San Diego chapter), the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (as a festival host and honor ensemble manager), and the California Music Educators Association (as an adjudicator in the Southern Border section). He and his wife Elena live in San Diego and are the proud parents of two amazing daughters, Sofia and Eloise. |

Vice-President: Brant Nishida, San Ramon Valley Unified School DistrictBrant Nishida teaches instrumental music in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. His teaching assignment includes Band and Orchestra at Windemere Ranch Middle School and Orchestra at Diablo Vista Middle School. He had previously served as Assistant Director of Instrumental Music at San Ramon Valley High School. |
Secretary: Vickie Christensen, Los Altos High SchoolVickie Christensen is completing her 25 year as a High School educator. She has taught String Orchestra, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Literacy, Supervised Study, Health and Music Therapy. |

Treasurer: Dr. Cindy Moyer, Humboldt State UniversityCindy Moyer is the Music Department Chair and Professor of Violin, Viola, and Music Theory at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. She holds a B.M., M.M., DMA in Performance and an M.A. in Theory from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied violin with Gerardo Ribiero, Catherine Tait and William Preucil. In addition to teaching college violinists and violists, she works with pre-college students through the Humboldt Music Academy and the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop. She is currently the treasurer of the California Orchestra Director’s Association and a frequent presenter on string pedagogy topics at the California All-State Music Educator’s Conference. She performs regularly as a soloist and in the Arcata Bay String Quartet, the Vipisa Trio (a Violin, Piano, and Saxophone trio), Symphony of the Redwoods, and the Mendocino Music Festival Orchestra. She is the author of scale books for violin and viola, Scales and Arpeggios with Shifting Practice, published in 2018 by Galaxy Music. |
